Trainings: This depends on the coach but most have two trainings per week for a couple of hours at least.
Each team traditionally enters in the Pacific Basketball Easter Tournament held at Easter, Intercity Tournament (8 weeks of Saturday games) and BBNZ Premierships (a three day weekend tournament)
U11 & U17 Intercity begins in Feb and their season finishes in April (unless U17’s make Nationals which is in June).
U13 & U15 season starts with the Easter tournament followed by the Intercity tournament and Prems (finishing in August – unless they make Nationals which is in early November).
Training for the U11 and U17 will begin very soon as their season starts earlier than the other teams (this will be decided by the coaches)
Last year U13 and U15 started before Christmas however I suspect that they will probably begin in late Jan / early Feb.
Costs:
Trials $15
Depends on whether we are successful in getting grants to pay for training venues and the number of trainings the coaches hold. An estimate is as follows:
Association Fee $100 (this includes a training shirt and the team entry for Intercity Tournament)
Tournment Costs – Easter tournament $85 per player for whole weekend; Intercity $8 per player per game; Premiership Tournament $70 per player
Training costs: approx $7 per player per training (this covers court hire & a small contribution to fuel cost of the coach).
